*ITEM:  PENN No 155 Beachmaster Vintage Open Fishing Reel Red Knob

*MANUFACTURER:  Penn

*MODEL:  No. 155 Beachmaster. Beachmaster is not imprinted on the reel but all 155 through 165 are Beachmasters.

*YEAR:  This reel is estimated to have been produced in the late 1950's or early 1960's. These reel models were produced from the early 1940's until 2003. The 1950's and 1960's models have the torpedo handles in different colors. In the 1970's Penn started using rubberized handles.

*SPECS:  250 yds, 30 lb line

*COLORS:  Brown side plates, red multicolored crank handle knob, bakelite spool.

*MEASURES:  Approx. 2 3/8" spool opening width, 2 3/4" dia. body sides

*CONDITION:  This fishing reel needs to be oiled just to assure proper maintenance. All the functions were checked and all are operating properly except for what appears to be a "Tight Turning Spool". The spool does not turn as freely as it should turn. This reel was used regularly and has lots of noticeable dings, knicks, scratches, marks and use wear. There is some medium discoloration on the chrome plating and some minor surface rust spots. No cracks in the sideplates.

*ECCENTRIC LEVER: Moves forward and backward freely, engages and disengages spool Ok.

*CLICK BUTTON: Moves freely up or down. Loud clicking is heard when button is moved up, no clicking is heard when button is moved down.

*STAR DRAG WHEEL: Turns freely to tighten or loosen drag. Hard finger pressure was applied to spool when drag was fully engaged and no slippage was felt (The star drag wheel has to be pushed extra hard to fully engage the spool and stop all drag). Slippage could be felt as drag was loosened when the star drag wheel was turned.

*CRANK HANDLE: Slightly curved with no cracks noticed in the knob. Engages spool properly and turns freely. The handle turns freely when disengaged from the spool but when engaged with the spool the spool turns tight. No side play in the handle shaft. Very slight hair in and out shaft play.

*SPOOL: Bakelite spool with noticeable wear. Spool turns tight but it does turn. The fishing line is still on the spool and the spool under the line was not inspected.

*FEATURES:  Medium open conventional reel for moderate size catches. "The spool turns tight and not as freely as it should turn".

*A picture that can be magnified to full screen will be sent upon request.

*Buyer is responsible for any maintenance or repairs needed if any. This reel should be lubricated. The spool turns tight and not as loose as it does on other reels I've inspected.

*This item will be sold "as-is" in used condition. No warranties or guarantees come with this reel.

*Buyer is responsible for making sure all is correct with the item and the item will suit the buyers needs and expectations before purchase. Buyer is responsible for making sure purchase of this item is not a mistake.
