*ITEM:  KA BAR Vintage Early 1950's Bone Handle 2 Blade Pocket Knife Kabar Broken Wiggle

*MANUFACTURER:  Tang Stamped: Kabar

*MODEL:  Not Marked. 2 blade with bone handle

*TANG MARKING: Just stamped with the early text version of "Kabar" used in the early 1950's

*YEAR:  Early 1950's. This style tang stamp marking started to be use in the 1950's then used on the handle plaque in the early 1960's. When the handle plaque started to be inscribed with this exact text style the tang was stamped in an updated style. This knife does not have the handle plaque and was produced before the handle plaques were used.

*COLOR:  Dark dyed bone handle and forged steel color.

*MATERIAL:  Forged steel with a bone handle. I hot pin tested the handle and the pin did not push in to a melted handle material. I looked at the test spot with a jewelers magnifier and there was a granular substance and no signs of melted plastic goo.

*MEASURES:  Body Approx. 3 3/4" long, 3/4" wide at widest, 3/8" thickness. Blades Approx., Main Blade 2 3/4" length X 1/2" at widest, sidekick blade 2 1/8".

*CONDITION:  Aged condition with darkened blades and minor surface rust. Some forge pitting in the metal, soiled, lots of dings, knicks, marks and wear. The front main blade and its front sidekick are in good antique shape.

The main blade has some very noticeable side wiggle in it and closes easily when pushed. If fact, the main blade moves all the way back because the stop metal is missing down the back. The piece of metal length strip that keeps the blade from moving to the opposite side of the blade slot is "Gone". There's very little wiggle in the sidekick blade. The sidekick blade is nice and tight and requirs some pressure to close.

When the blades are closed in their slots it's extremly difficult to get them to open because you can't get a finger nail on them. I had to use a pair of pliers to get a grip on them and open them up.
